Are you someone who can:

• Communicate the Businesses Operational Risk Strategy to deployed Risk Management functions
• Track and report on progress towards achieving the Business Operational Risk Strategy at defined intervals
• Identify the inter-relationships between different risk types and proactively identify and anticipate risks (including emerging risks)
• Work with relevant IT, legal, regulatory, business resilience, and fraud specialists to ensure comprehensive identification of all key operational risks
• Assist business to identify risks inherent to key business processes, new products, business projects and key outsourced/insourced arrangements and critical third party service providers
• Adopt a combined assurance approach to risk assessment by engaging with management, specialist risk areas and audit in assessing risks and ensure comprehensive risk assessments are conducted
• Consider all key risks in preparing the operational risk profile report in a format that is acceptable to senior management and Group risk governance committees
• Ensure appropriate governance structures are in place as well as develop and communicate timelines (taking into account Segment and Group timelines), for submission of relevant op risk reports to risk committee structures
• Prepare clear and concise operational risk profile reports with focus on key risks, mitigating actions, ops risk themes and trends and emerging risks
• Develop and maintain operational risk control monitoring plan – with focus on monitoring key controls based on key risks, identified operational risk themes
• Provide input into FirstRand operational risk frameworks and policies as well as implement and adapt FirstRand operational risk frameworks and policies for the business in a practical and effective way
• Facilitate the establishment of operational risk appetite and measure operational risk profile against operational risk appetite setting on a regular basis and report on the operational risk profile accordingly
• Ensure risk coverage and involvement in business strategic discussions, new product development, system changes, key business projects to ensure proactive risk identification and mitigation
• Advise on risk mitigation solutions and proactively engage with management on key risks matters
• Develop tactical strategy and delivery plans in support of functional strategic objectives in partnership with leadership
• Demonstrate leadership behaviour through personal involvement, commitment and dedication in support of organisational values
• Participate in planned activities that are appropriate for own and employee development

You will be an ideal candidate if you:

• 5 to 8 years risk management experience 
• Appropriate undergraduate degree (e.g. B.Com / Law ) or Postgraduate or Certification
