As we continue to grow, we are seeking an individual who is brilliant at the basics to join our team as a SHE Officer within our Sugar Division based at Malelane.
The primary objective of this position is to ensure that Agriculture SHERQ policies, standards and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
Duties & Responsibilities
Implement, and maintain comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with CoE, regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Conduct regular risk assessments of work processes, machinery, and field conditions.
Develop and implement hazard control measures to minimize risk.
Ensure proper and timeous administration of the incident reporting and investigation system in all sites and conduct follow up reviews to confirm that preventive/corrective measures taken are effective.
Conduct SHE training needs analysis and make recommendations. Provide safety training and awareness programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to promote a positive safety culture and awareness.
Conduct continuous contractor monitoring for compliance.
Ensure equipment and machinery Safety by monitoring the condition of tractors, harvesters, and other farm vehicles/machinery/equipment to ensure they are safe and well-maintained.
Develop and maintain emergency response plans for fires, accidents, and natural disasters.
Drive Risk and Compliance collation and dissemination of information between all Departments, RCL Farms and all JV Farms.
Minimum Requirements
BSc/BTech in Safety Management/Environmental Health.
SAMTRAC will be an added advantage.
5 years’ experience as a SHE Professional in a supervisory role in an agricultural/mining or industrial environment.
Knowledge of training and development.
Facilitation & coaching skills.
Knowledge of SHE related legal requirements including OSH Act.
Experience with implementing maintaining SHE Certification systems such as NOSA/ISO 14001/ISO 45001.
A valid driver’s license.
Computer literacy (proficiency in Microsoft Office) is essential.
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Candidate's must be a South African citizens.
