Job Description
Join us at our Venetia Mine Operation as a Senior Engineering Operative where you will be responsible to:
- Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by
- legislation and health, safety, environmental and security policies and procedures.
- Assist Artisan and other operatives in carrying out major engineering tasks.
- Report defects and communicate problems to the Foreman and / or Artisan.
- Apply recognized work and safety standards and ensure that tasks are completed to
- required quality standards. Conduct efficient housekeeping of engineering workshops in
- accordance with departmental requirements.
- Perform all activities according to instructions, procedures and mining needs.
- Participate in cost saving initiatives and adhere to financial procedures.

This role is in the Engineering Department and is at a Band 9 Level reporting to the Senior Engineering Foreman.
Qualifications
You will need the following minimum requirements:
Plater/Welder (Boilermaker) X2
- Grade 12 with Maths or equivalent and
- N2 Engineering Science
- N2 Mathematics
- N2 Plating and Structural Steel Drawings
- N2 Platers theory
Diesel Mechanic X2
- Grade 12 with Maths or equivalent and
- N2 Engineering Science
- N2 Mathematics
- N2 Engineering Drawings
- N2 Diesel trade theory
Mechanician
- Grade 12 with Maths or equivalent and
- N2 Engineering Science
- N2 Mathematics
- N2 Industrial Electronics
- N2 Instrument Trade Theory
Electrician
- Grade 12 with Maths or equivalent and
- N2 Engineering Science
- N2 Industrial electronics

Other requirements:
- Ability to analyse and interpret data and information relevant to the tasks and equipment being used.
- Ability to communicate information in English clearly and effectively, both verbally and in written.
- knowledge and experience of Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation and standards applicable to underground mining.
- The incumbent will be required to work overtime and do callouts.
- The post is dependent on the successful completion of the Company’s pre-employment protocol such as qualifications verification, relevant psychometric and technical assessments and security clearance.
- Might be required to travel
- In addition to above minimum criteria the incumbent will also meet the following requirements:
- Code EB/Code 08 driver’s license
- Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness certificate) on mine.
- Your consideration for employment is subject to your SAPS Criminal Record verification and qualifications verification.
- Psychometric and Technical assessments. Successful completion of the pre-assessment does however not guarantee appointment.
