Social Media Consultant - 6 Months Contract
Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Media Consultant to manage, coordinate, and enhance the digital presence of government programmes, initiatives, and institutionalized days across multiple social media platforms. The consultant will be responsible for content creation, active posting, community engagement, digital campaigns, media buying, and performance monitoring to ensure consistent brand alignment, audience engagement, and impact measurement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Content Creation & Active Posting:
- Develop and design promotional material suitable for all social media platforms, including Facebook (Premier & ECPG), Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Google Ads.
- Create content aligned with themes, key pillars, and approved messaging, ensuring relevance for diverse audiences.
- Post content actively and consistently across all social media platforms.
- Develop and execute at least one online GBVF awareness campaign per month across all platforms.
- Track, monitor, and provide monthly performance reports for all social media pages.
2. Digital Campaigns & Media Buying:
- Develop digital campaigns profiling the Premier, Eastern Cape initiatives, and government services based on the ECPG brand strategy.
- Create detailed campaign plans with clear objectives, target audiences, and expected outcomes, followed by close-out reports.
- Boost a minimum of three (3) posts per week and a maximum of five (5) posts per week on all social media accounts.
- Execute platform-specific paid campaigns on Facebook, X, Instagram, Google Ads, LinkedIn and YouTube.
- Manage subscriptions and payments for social media management applications (Hootsuite, Business Suite).
3. Community & Account Management:
- Monitor and manage information relevant to the organization in the online space.
- Monitor negative sentiments and potential crises; develop and implement crisis management strategies.
- Develop a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) framework and respond to comments daily.
- Provide monthly reports detailing audience engagement, feedback, and community interactions.
4. Monitoring, Reporting & Analytics:
- Track and interpret data on content performance to understand audience behavior.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor software and platform updates to ensure continued relevance, functionality, and alignment with best practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in social media management, digital marketing, or communications, preferably within the public sector.
- Proven experience managing multiple social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google Ads).
- Proficiency in social media management tools such as Hootsuite and Business Suite.
- Strong skills in content creation, digital campaigns, community engagement, and analytics reporting.
- Experience in media buying, boosting posts, and running paid campaigns across multiple platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle sensitive or crisis situations professionally.
