Our client is a leading renewable energy company driving sustainable energy infrastructure across South Africa and beyond. With a strong pipeline of commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar PV projects, they are expanding their project management team to support continued growth and successful project execution.
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Solar Project Manager to lead the full project lifecycle of solar PV installations – from development through to commissioning. The ideal candidate must be professionally registered PM), have a minimum of 10 years of relevant project experience, and hold an electrical engineering qualification. This is a Cape Town–based position with occasional travel to project sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end execution of solar PV projects (commercial, industrial, and utility scale).
Oversee planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and quality control.
Lead multidisciplinary teams including engineering, construction, HSE, and subcontractors.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope and budget, and to regulatory and technical standards.
Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, local authorities, and EPC/IPP partners.
Conduct risk assessments, mitigation planning, and performance reporting.
Ensure compliance with all SHEQ and environmental standards.
Oversee the technical commissioning, testing, and handover of projects.
Minimum Requirements:
Professional registration ( PMP certified).
10+ years of experience in project management, of which at least 5 must be in the solar PV / renewable energy sector.
Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, grid-tied solar PV plants, and South African electrical regulations (SANS, NRS, etc.).
Proven ability to manage large-scale construction projects and engineering teams.
Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites.
Experience working with EPC, IPP, or Owner’s Engineer environments.
Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Familiarity with REIPPPP or private PPA project delivery frameworks.
Commercial acumen and ability to manage contractual obligations.
