Systems Technician
Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Systems Technician to join our team focused on delivering cutting-edge Electronic Warfare systems for defence applications. The successful candidate will support project teams by performing first-level system engineering activities such as requirements analysis, system definition and design, integration, testing, and quality assurance. Working under the guidance of Systems Engineers, the Systems Technician will contribute directly to the development, assembly, and validation of complex systems.
Key Technical Skills
- Strong foundational knowledge of mathematics, physics, and engineering concepts relevant to mechanical or electronic systems.
- Proficient in the use of engineering design tools, simulation software, and rapid prototyping techniques.
- Understanding of engineering review processes and gate reviews.
- Practical experience in precision assembly, system manufacturing techniques, and test setup.
- Knowledge of design standards and manufacturability principles.
- Ability to contribute to the development of detailed design documentation and drawing packages.
- Familiarity with quality assurance and configuration management standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Advanced Diploma is preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in a high-technology engineering or defence-related environment.
- Experience supporting system integration, assembly, or testing activities.
- Familiarity with engineering documentation and quality assurance processes is advantageous.
- Experience in Radio Frequency measurements is compulsory.
Key Responsibilities
- Task Planning and Contracting
- Execute defined engineering work packages based on inputs from Systems Engineers.
- Follow contractual procedures, report deviations, and ensure all work is documented according to company standards.
- System Definition and Design
- Assist with breaking down system specifications into subsystem-level requirements.
- Support detailed design activities, data pack generation, and the application of engineering solutions.
- Participate in design reviews and evaluate solutions for practicality and end-use suitability.
- System Verification and Validation
- Support system installation and integration based on implementation processes and contractual commitments.
- Create and apply test procedures, considering quality, assembly time, and reliability.
- Manage procurement and configuration of system parts and assemblies, ensuring compliance with requirements.
- System Testing and Client Support
- Perform functional and acceptance testing on systems and components at both internal and client sites.
- Document testing processes and support system-level evaluations, bug logging, and regression testing.
- Provide technical support during deployment, training, and client acceptance activities.
- General Engineering and Maintenance
- Conduct fault finding, maintenance, and repairs at product and system level.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure specification compliance and identify improvements.
- Support documentation efforts, quality assembly tasks, and system integration activities.
- Contribute to configuration and documentation processes throughout the engineering lifecycle.
