Introduction
We are looking to recruit a Technical Team Lead to form part of the IT Data Management & Enterprise Architect Team in the Group IT department. The role will be based at Clicks Head Office in Cape Town and will report to the Applications Portfolio Manager.
Job description
To lead the BI and Analytics team in delivering impactful data insights through dashboards, reports, and publications. This role is business-facing and focuses on enabling a data-driven culture across the organization. It includes the development and deployment of AI/ML use cases, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and stakeholder needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the BI and Analytics team in delivering high-quality dashboards, reports, and data publications.
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand analytical needs and translate them into actionable insights.
- Promote and support the adoption of data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Oversee the development and deployment of AI/ML use cases in collaboration with data scientists and business units.
- Ensure data visualization best practices and consistency in reporting standards.
- Manage the lifecycle of analytics products from requirements gathering to delivery and maintenance.
- Support data literacy initiatives and training programs for business users.
- Collaborate with the Data Development Technical Lead to ensure data availability and quality.
- Manage team performance, leave, and career development activities.
- Contribute to strategic planning and innovation in analytics capabilities.
Minimum requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven experience in leading BI and analytics teams.
- Strong proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Experience with AI/ML concepts and implementation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong understanding of data storytelling and user experience in analytics.
- Experience in managing team performance and HR-related activities.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with cloud analytics platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Data Fabric, AWS QuickSight).
- Knowledge of Python, R, or other analytics programming languages.
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps management methodologies.
- Experience in change management and driving cultural transformation.
