We’re looking for a Financial Controller who’s excited to build smart systems, bring clarity to the numbers, and help us scale with confidence. You’ll be someone who loves creating structure, thrives on ownership, and knows how to bring calm and control to complex financial setups. Your job will be to build and oversee the core financial operations of our multi-entity structure, working directly with me and collaborating with external partners and contractors to bring our finance function to a top-tier level.
More specifically, you will:
📊 Lead the diagnostics and improvement of financial controls and workflows across all entities
🧾 Design and implement a fast monthly close process for the main operating company
📈 Oversee consolidated financial reporting and build dashboards for P&L, cash flow, and KPIs
💰 Build and maintain a 13-week cash flow forecast and manage weekly cash sweeps
🔐 Set up a dual-authorization payment approval matrix
📝 Ensure compliance across all legal entities
🧮 Manage and coordinate outsourced bookkeeping providers
📊 Define a capital allocation policy and create ROI models for decision-making
🧑🏫 Support the recruitment and onboarding of a Finance Lead, including handover docs and coaching
🧠 Provide ongoing strategic finance input during the ramp-down phase and beyond
⏰ This is a part-time role (16 hours/week) or full-time role (35-40 hours per week), and we’re flexible - those hours can be spread over 2, 3, or 4 days depending on your preference.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you need:
✅ 7+ years of progressive finance experience, including working with multi-entity or international structures
✅ Strong understanding of monthly close, consolidation, cash forecasting, and internal controls
✅ Experienced in using Xero or similar accounting tools
✅ Comfortable managing outsourced finance providers and junior finance contributors
✅ Experienced in implementing systems and automation in finance
✅ Excellent written and verbal communication in English
✅ Able to work independently and take full ownership of your area
✅ Willing and able to join virtual team meetings in Kumospace
Brownie points for:
⭐ Experience in a scaling startup or fast-paced growth company
⭐ Familiarity with healthcare, agency, or professional services business models
⭐ Background in investment analysis or capital allocation frameworks
⭐ Proficiency in building dashboards with financial or BI tools
