The core purpose of the role is to support the Portfolio Delivery team in project and program delivery by producing reliable and accurate reports on delivery of all portfolio programs and projects in relation to delivery within timelines, benefits tracking, risks and issues that provides insights for decision making and planning. This is achieved through:
- Preparing all reports required by the portfolio on all programs and projects within the Reporting Framework of MTN SA
- Facilitating and managing the timeous delivery of an integrated view of key insights, benchmarks, trends as well as internal and external performance metrics to the Portfolio team’s stakeholders
- Responsible to support the definition and maintenance of the reporting framework.
- Sourcing, manage and analyse information and produce in approved templates for all forums.
Detail descriptions:
- 1. Data Collection & Management
- Source, gather, and consolidate data from telecom systems (e.g., billing, CRM, network performance) and other relevant repositories.
- Maintain and update databases to ensure data is accurate, timely, relevant, and consistent.
- Apply defined processes to clean, validate, and quality-check raw data for reliability.
- Conduct preliminary analysis to prepare data for reporting and insights generation.
- Ensure data is stored and managed in line with internal standards and ownership protocols.
- Draw data from information management systems and maintain raw data integrity.
- Set up planning sessions, workshops, and knowledge-sharing forums to support portfolio delivery.
- Ensure governance structures and controls are in place, and produce required reports aligned with the cadence calendar.
- Measure and address adherence to governance processes.
. Report Development
- Develop and deliver regular and ad-hoc reports (daily, weekly, monthly) on KPIs such as customer churn, network uptime, usage trends, and revenue.
- Prepare project and portfolio reports using approved templates and tools, highlighting progress, risks, and issues.
- Align reporting with the defined cycle and framework, ensuring timely and accurate distribution.
- Produce integrated reports that support strategic decision-making and business planning across the EPMO and MTN SA Executive leadership.
- Identify reporting audiences and define their content, format, and frequency needs.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of reporting standards, templates, and schedules.
- Facilitate delivery of insights, trends, and performance metrics through reports, presentations, and forums.
- Provide updates on risks, revised timelines, and impacts on commercial benefit realization.
- Support business units with portfolio tracking and performance reports.
- Review delivery performance against planned timelines and KPIs.
3. Trend Analysis & Insights
- Analyze data to identify trends in customer behavior, service usage, and operational performance.
- Generate insights to support cost optimization, service improvements, and revenue growth.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Engage with internal departments (e.g., business units, finance) to understand data and reporting needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders involved in project delivery.
- Collaborate with project teams to gather updates and insights that enhance report accuracy.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all reports comply with industry regulations, internal policies, and data governance standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold data security protocols.
AI Integration
- Leverage embedded AI features in BI platforms (e.g., Power BI Copilot, Tableau Einstein) to enhance reporting efficiency and insight generation.
- Use AI tools to draft executive summaries, generate insights, and automate reporting processes.
Escalations
- Manage and resolve escalations that impact the critical path of portfolio delivery.
- Escalate issues with significant time, scope, cost, or customer impact.
- Provide solutions and manage formal resolution processes.
Operational Delivery
- Monitor, review, and report on strategic initiatives and projects across the portfolio.
- Lead the Analysis and Insights function within the EPMO, including planning, organizing, and coordinating development activities.
- Maintain cross-functional stakeholder relationships at all levels.
- Assess benefits and monitor the cost-effectiveness of project delivery.
- Support continuous improvement in reporting and project delivery processes.
Education:
- Matric
- Completed a degree or diploma OR studies in progress towards a project management or any commercial degree or Diploma
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in working as an analyst/specialist within project office
- Minimum 2 years in Telecommunication, TMT sector and/or financial services sector
- Strong Quantitative and Analytics skills
- Strong reporting and presentations skills
- Commercial acumen
- Strong networking and communication skills.
