We are looking for a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Compliance & Risk Officer to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring our operations remain compliant with regulatory, security, and risk requirements across multiple industries, including Financial Services, Retail, FMCG, Public Sector, Insurance, Telecommunications, and Media.
Key Responsibilities
- Industry Compliance: Stay abreast of and implement regulations across diverse sectors.
- Security Compliance: Manage data policies, security assessments, and data subject requests.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks across business areas.
- Legislative Compliance: Ensure adherence to POPIA, GDPR, and other relevant laws.
- Client Policy Alignment: Maintain compliance with client-specific policies and audits.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain compliance documentation and generate executive reports.
- Business Continuity: Own and update the Business Continuity Plan and audit third-party strategies.
- Industry Engagement: Represent the company in forums and stay informed via journals and workgroups.
- Knowledge Sharing: Lead security awareness sessions and simulations.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, IT, or related field (Master’s or postgrad advantageous).
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRM, or DPO highly recommended.
- 3–5+ years in a compliance/risk role, ideally in a medium to large corporate environment.
- Exposure to IT and software-related compliance is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of POPIA, GDPR, and industry-specific regulations.
- Technical proficiency in survey platforms and data processing.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to simplify complex legal/technical concepts.
- Relationship building and service delivery excellence.
