POST TITLE: E-Learning Development and Support Officer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide training sessions to academic staff on how to use the LMS (e.g. how to upload content, create a live collab session, accessing papers to grade etc)
- Identify and conduct training to student mentors to assist with clickUP orientation sessions
- Conduct training sessions on how to make the most of the LMS in a module (e.g. making use of discussion forums, adaptive release etc)
- Enhance student learning experience on an online platform
- Conduct Orientation for module coordinators and new facilitators
- Conduct a reflective session with Academic staff to identify what can be improved on at the end of each cycle.
- Identify various difficulties which academic staff and students face and provide support accordingly
- Generate reports regarding student activity in the module
- Provide technical clickup support for lecturers and students
- Monitor student queries and concerns and take action accordingly
- Overseeing administrative aspects of the Digital Literacy Campaign
- Partake in research within the Distance Education unit
- Preparing the timetable for the 3 short contact sessions (SCS) which occur during each cycle (Face-to-face and virtual)
- Overseeing the virtual sessions and providing support if need be
- Develop a ClickUP Ultra implementation plan for the Advanced Diploma and BED Honours programme for the unit of distance education
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Three-year (3) diploma in Computer Integrated Education/ Multimedia or relevant field OR Grade 12;
- Three to five years’ experience, preferably in a higher education environment
- Experience in the development of e-learning materials
- E-tutoring experience
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Experience with liaising with academics and students
- Have a grasp of Instructional design practice relating to academic environments and technology enhanced learning
- Creative application of the use of social media, and internet to advance teaching and learning goals of the Faculty
- Experience in is social media communication
- Experience of using a Learning Management System
- Excellent Computing and technology application skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills
- Persuasion skills
- Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels (Managers, Academics, administrative colleagues and technical colleagues)
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- A Bachelors degree in Computer Integrated Education/ Multimedia or relevant field;
- Experience Instructional Design
- Five (5) years’ experience, preferably in a higher education environment.
PLEASE NOTE: Shortlisted applicants may be required to do a 10/15 minutes presentation to the selection committee of the department during the formal interview.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
