Applications are invited for the above-indicated vacancy within Rapid Innovation Group. The incumbent will report to the Archives and Ingest Manager.

Job Purpose

The Ingest Operator is responsible for ingesting, monitoring, and maintaining the technical quality of all incoming feeds, ensuring seamless coordination between the News, Production Control Room (PCR) team, and field reporters or cameramen for live broadcasts. This role requires technical expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and effective communication to support the overall media workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Feed Ingestion and Monitoring:
    • Ingest and monitor all incoming feeds, ensuring compliance with the scheduled plan.
    • Perform quality control (QC) checks on all ingested content to maintain broadcast standards.
  • Coordination:
    • Collaborate with the News team, Sports desk, and PCR to align with editorial plans and recording schedules.
    • Coordinate with reporters and cameramen in the field for live crossings and ensure smooth execution.
    • Coordinate for Zoom interviews and all other requested recordings off the internet.


  • Technical Operations:
    • Conduct manual routing of audio and video signals using routing switcher panels.
    • Tune receivers based on the feed source to establish and maintain signal integrity.
    • Report feed quality issues to PCR, Desk, and Line Manager, ensuring timely resolution before recording or live broadcasts.
  • Maintenance and Reporting:
    • Report technical issues to the engineering team and collaborate to resolve faults with minimal downtime.
    • Check and maintain the technical quality of all ingested content.
    • Update log sheets and ensure a proper shift handover process to maintain operational continuity.
  • Workflow Optimization:
    • Assist in the development and implementation of media workflows.
    • Identify opportunities for workflow improvements and support their execution.

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of Broadcast Operations and technology
  • An understanding of media management techniques, IT and the Postproduction Process.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience.
