To ensure that product and service quality and reliability delivered to customers meets their required standards by means of verification and accelerated life testing. To fulfil the role of a Laboratory Technical Signatory as required by ISO 17025 and SANAS as well as supervising and guiding the Technical Assistant/s with the technical aspects of calibration work

Core Actions / Area of Responsibility
- Responsible for development of verification test suite design for each product
- Test process design for on-going verification testing
- Continually review and improve testing process and implementation
- Responsible for FAT tests
- Product failure analysis and reporting for field & QC/Burn-in/factory failures
- Type testing support to R & D Engineering
- Assist in testing of new unapproved alternative components for Engineering
- Initiate continuous improvement projects based on verification test results
- Provide input into new product designs
- Coordinate accelerated life and reliability tests on any product either in production or development
- Support product and manufacturing quality assurance, product reliability and regulatory conformance
- Record and report findings in a formalized reporting style (including logbook or log sheets) which may also include illustrations and graphs
- Liaise with Product Development, Product Support and Product Management with regards to product testing
- Support resolution of customer quality issues and technical liaison
- Provide support to manufacturing engineering in troubleshooting and product improvement initiatives
- Support product development process and the delivery of effective NPI
- To organize testing at external test houses where facilities are not available at Landis+Gyr
- Issuing of Calibration Certificates
- Method validation and procedure writing
- Assess and interpret calibration data
- Managing, Supervising and mentoring as required e.g., LAB Technical Assistant and any other personnel on training
- Initiate continuous improvement projects based on failures/corrective action monitoring etc.
- Manage and run the ILC Program
- Equipment maintenance
- Keep accurate traceable records of all aspects of the calibration work done
- Representative for the laboratory Liason between SANAS & Lab:
- Coordinating audits
- Communicating changes in the Scope of Accreditation
- Planning and leading the laboratory management review
- Participating in internal and external Audits for both the laboratory and the plant
- Executing root cause analysis for both the lab and plant CAPA’s and NC’s after audits

SANAS approved Technical Signatory (or in the process of meeting technical signatory status within the next 6 months)
Previous experience working in a SANAS accredited calibration laboratory with a proven track record of practical and theoretical experience.
Experience in root cause problem solving, implementing preventative and corrective actions
Project experience
History of working as part of a team but also ability to work independently in the field.
Leadership experience
Experience Managing Resources in a Lab
Communication. Ability to be trained and to train and mentor others

Educational / Additional Qualification / Age
- National Diploma in Electrical Engineering Light Current or higher
- SANAS approved Technical Signatory or in the process of meeting technical signatory status with the objective of meeting the requirement within 6 months
