The Division of Mathematics Education in the School of Education at the University of the Witwatersrand invites applications for two positions at the level of Lecturer and/or Senior Lecturer.

Lecturer Position: Requirements
A PhD in Mathematics Education or Mathematics
A strong foundation in mathematics content knowledge to competently teach most of the following BEd-level courses: Functions, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Mathematical Modelling, Discrete Mathematics, and Linear Algebra. Evidence (e.g., academic transcripts or teaching experience) of having studied or taught undergraduate mathematics content courses.
A minimum of three years' experience teaching mathematics at high school level or tutoring undergraduate mathematics content courses.
Ability to teach both mathematics education and undergraduate mathematics content courses.
Evidence of research potential or output (e.g., publications).
Ability to supervise research projects at Honours, Masters, and PhD levels.
Lecturer Position: Duties
Teaching most of the listed mathematics content courses at BEd and Honours levels.
Teaching mathematics methodology courses in the Senior Phase and FET Phase, including PGCE.
Teaching mathematics education courses at Honours and Masters levels.
Supervising Honours, Masters, and PhD student research projects.
Supervising students on Teaching Experience.
Course coordination and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
Representing the Division on School committees.
Senior Lecturer Position: Requirements
A PhD in Mathematics Education or Mathematics
A strong background in mathematics content knowledge (same content areas as for Lecturer).
A recognised teaching qualification and at least three years experience teaching both mathematics content and mathematics education at tertiary level.
A strong, independent publication record.
Proven experience in supervising postgraduate research, including successful completion of Masters students.
Evidence of securing external research funding.
Demonstrated participation and presentations at regional and international mathematics education conferences.
Senior Lecturer Position: Duties
Teaching most of the listed mathematics content courses at BEd and Honours levels.
Teaching mathematics methodology courses in the Senior Phase and FET Phase, including PGCE.
Teaching mathematics education and educational research courses at Honours and Masters level.
Supervising Honours, Masters, and PhD student research projects.
Supervising students on Teaching Experience.
Course coordination and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
