We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Meat Packer to join our team. The Meat Packer is responsible for preparing, wrapping, labeling, and packing various cuts of meat for retail and wholesale customers. This role requires strict attention to hygiene and food safety standards, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a cold and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Weigh, wrap, and label meat products according to orders or store standards
- Inspect meat for quality, freshness, and expiration dates before packing
- Use knives, slicers, and other equipment safely to prepare meat as needed
- Pack meat cuts in containers or packaging for sale or delivery
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work area, tools, and equipment
- Follow all health and safety guidelines, including wearing protective gear
- Assist butchers with cutting or trimming tasks as required
- Monitor stock levels of packaging materials and report shortages
- Ensure all packed items are properly labeled with type, weight, and pricing
- Dispose of waste properly and contribute to a clean working environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a butchery or food packing environment preferred
- Knowledge of basic meat cuts and handling practices is an asset
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to [ 10–20 kg]
- Comfortable working in cold environments (refrigerated rooms)
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Strong commitment to hygiene and food safety
- Punctual, reliable, and able to work as part of a team
- Flexible to work weekends, early mornings, or holidays as needed
