Job Summary
The National Projects Planner will assist in coordinating and planning production activities to ensure efficient operations and timely delivery of products. They will work closely with various teams, including production, procurement, and logistics, to maintain optimal workflow, minimize delays, and meet customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Scheduling:
- Assist in creating daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address delays or issues.
- Create individual unit folders in the various production managers folders with quality inspection sheets, material lists and unit drawings.
- Plan in work orders for special tasks according to the approved time matrix and work required.
- Alter production plan to allow for missed days / downtime.
2. Inventory Management:
- Track inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to ensure timely replenishment by setting minimum and maximum levels.
- Create manufacturing orders for units to be built per the approved to build list.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to order materials as per production needs by loading purchase order for managements approval. (Based on approved Manufacturing order – Bill of Materials).
- Maintain Bill of material masterfiles per unit and update if approved by CEO.
- Perform inventory count variances of material used vs approved based on stock counts and inform management of discrepancies / variances.
- Ensure planner / procurement clerk places orders timeously and follows up on outstanding orders.
- Branch and Special tasks counts and re-ordering of materials to ensure they have sufficient stock.
3. Coordination:
- Liaise with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations. This includes booking of internal and external trucks for delivery of stock to the various factories.
- Communicate with sales or customer service teams regarding order statuses or delays.
- Communicate delays timeously as well as start and end status of units based on material ETA times.
4. Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Maintain production records and analyze data to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
- Prepare reports on production performance and recommend process improvements.
5. Quality Assurance Support:
- Monitor adherence to quality standards in production.
- Support efforts to minimize waste and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
6. Custom unit design and SD Drawings of Units:
- Create drawings of units using sketchup and modify them to suit customers needs / client specifications and see if it will be able to be built or if client needs to re-assess there needs / design.
- List all extras on drawing and send this back to the rep to be signed off by client.
7. Oversight of the buying department:
- Manage the buyer effectively and ensure they are obtaining the best prices available.
- Ensure the buyer obtains quotes for all items required by any department.
Key Skills & Competencies

- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with production planning software (e.g., ERP systems) is a plus.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Qualifications
- A diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field will be an advantage.
- 1–2 years of experience in production planning, manufacturing, or supply chain (preferred but not mandatory).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and inventory control is advantageous.
