Role Requirements
To be successful in this role, you need to hold:
- a relevant Nursing qualification and be registered with SANC as a Registered Nurse.
- You also need to have completed - or be willing to complete - Train-the-Trainer and Assessor certifications, which are essential for delivering impactful and compliant training.
We are looking for someone with four or more years of phlebotomy experience in a pathology environment. This depth of experience ensures that you bring both technical insight and real-world understanding to your training sessions. Your background will allow you to mentor others with confidence, while also contributing to succession planning and talent development across the business unit.
Skills Requirements
This role calls for a unique blend of clinical knowledge and facilitation expertise. You need to have an advanced understanding of phlebotomy procedures, as well as a solid grasp of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, scope of practice, and training methodologies. Strong presentation and facilitation skills are essential, as you will be leading sessions that inspire, inform, and engage. You should also be comfortable using Meditech, the Microsoft Office Suite, and other digital tools to manage training content and logistics. Excellent communication, organizational, and active listening skills will help you connect with learners and tailor your approach to meet their needs. A strong sense of business acumen will also help you align training with broader operational goals.
Role Impact
In this role, your influence extends far beyond the training room. You are instrumental in shaping the capabilities and confidence of our phlebotomy teams, ensuring they are equipped to deliver safe, high-quality care. From onboarding new employees to delivering refresher sessions and specialized training, you help maintain the standards that define Ampath’s reputation. You also play a key role in identifying skill gaps and designing learning experiences that close them - supporting both individual growth and team performance. Your work helps create a culture of continuous improvement, where people feel empowered, engaged, and ready to thrive.
