Introduction
We are looking to recruit a Senior Database Administrator to work within Infrastructure Team in the IT department of Clicks Group Services. The role will be based at Clicks Head Office in Cape Town and will report to the Technical Team Leader in our Infrastructure Team.
Job description
Job Purpose:
To provide technical support to the Clicks IT Infrastructure team by delivering best of breed, world-class database configuration and administration (performance, integrity, and security) across databases which support key Clicks IT business applications. Ensure high availability of data and effective day-to-day operations through applicable technology and best practices
Job Objectives:
- To co-create with the Technical team Lead, database strategies, standards and roadmaps
- To improve and ensure optimal performance of databases through design, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring
- To improve and ensure optimal availability of databases through design, implementation and management of back-up, recovery and replication strategies and monitoring
- To perform ongoing capacity planning on databases to cater for future expansion requirements and organic growth
- To design, co-ordinate and implement security measures to safeguard databases
- To maintain and analyze internal records of major problem causes and resolutions, identify recurring problems and modify the resolution actions to prevent recurrence
- To administer the database technologies by maintaining appropriate versions and implementing patches and release levels
- To identify new technology trends, products, technologies, practices, and processes by selecting and using appropriate sources of information
- To ensure self-development and to keep pace with ever-changing database technology requirements and industry trends
- To install Database Software and create databases as required to meet requirements
Minimum requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or related qualification in Information Technology (essential)
- Minimum 4 years DBA experience (essential)
- 3 to 5 years’ experience working within an IT Department with team based interaction and delivery
- 2 years system analysis and design experience
- Understanding of the Retail and Supply Chain environment
- Database administration experience, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, MySQL, SAP HANA, PostgreSQL
- Experience with Redgate Monitor and Enterprise Manager
- Microsoft, AIX, Linux exposure
