Role Overview:
The role serves as the central point for IT systems administration, data security, and process optimisation. Responsibilities include maintaining cloud platforms, managing endpoints, enforcing data security policies, and streamlining workflows across the business, ensuring a secure, efficient, and compliant environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Administration
- Administer cloud platforms and collaboration tools, including Microsoft 365 (OneLogin, Exchange Online), Atlassian (Jira, Confluence), Dropbox, Google Workspace, and Figma
- Manage MacBooks using Kandji (MDM & EDR), including provisioning, compliance monitoring, and policy enforcement
- Triage and resolve IT support requests via Jira; escalate as needed
- Maintain user accounts, access controls, and role-based permissions
- Oversee secure onboarding and offboarding of employees
Data Security & Compliance
- Monitor and enforce data security policies in alignment with GDPR, POPIA, and ISO 27001 principles
- Conduct regular audits of systems, devices, and applications to reduce risks and shadow IT
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity plans
- Facilitate staff training on security best practices and regulatory requirements
Tooling & Optimisation
- Recommend, implement, and document improvements to workflows, automation, and tooling
- Maintain up-to-date IT documentation in Confluence
- Support system integrations and streamline reporting and operational insights
- Assist with Jira workflow implementations
Hardware & Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory of all company-owned hardware, including MacBooks
- Track devices, enforce policies, and manage updates via MDM tools
- Support procurement, provisioning, secure shipping, and returns
- Oversee hardware offboarding, remote lock, data wipe, and lifecycle planning
Skills & Experience
- Experience managing cloud platforms and SaaS tools (Microsoft 365, Atlassian, Apple Business Manager, etc.), ideally at scale
- Experience in integrating and automating tools and processes
- Understanding of endpoint management, access control, and role-based security
- Knowledge of GDPR, POPIA, and ISO 27001 with practical application
- Troubleshooting skills for Mac and Windows environments
- Experience with MDM and EDR tools (e.g., Kandji or similar)
- Strong documentation skills and ability to communicate technical topics clearly
- Resourceful, collaborative, and systems-oriented mindset
- Ability to identify and mitigate shadow IT
