Job Description
- Safety: Create a safety culture through productive and authorized operational systems/processes that allow all employees (including contracting partners) to provide their outputs in a risk-controlled environment. Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
- Performance and Delivery
- Integrate and track cross functional initiatives that impact on reserve generation and LOM
- Create Reserves for existing operations.
- Prepare report of mine Reserves in compliance with relevant codes.
- Provide specialist support to a business or function as required.
- Develop and maintain planning systems to streamline Reserve process.
- Establish standard database, planning, scheduling and reporting systems for Reserves. Integrate data and financial modelling to enhance Reserve capability.
- Utilise scanning capability to keep up to date with technological advancements and relevant code updates to ensure health of discipline is industry leading and forward focused.

- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance to internal and external regulatory, legislative and permitting requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mining engineering, Mineral Economics or other relevant discipline
- Registration with the recognized body for reserve declaration (AUSIMM, SAIMM, ECSA, SACNASP)
Experience
- Minimum of 5-10 years relevant experience
- Open Pit Mining experience
Technical knowledge(experience) required for role
- Proficient background in mine design, planning, production scheduling and cost estimating.
- Demonstrated knowledge in planning software (Comet, Deswick, Minesight, Cadsmine, Vulcan or Datamine) – Phython coding skills will be advantageous,
- Demonstrated knowledge to understand the entire mining value chain and influence on reserve declaration,
- Understanding of the complexity of a mining company, social, political, environment and cultural influences and how to manage the impact of external forces.
- Applying technical knowledge to evaluate sources of information, e.g. assesses which data sets are fit for purpose,
Technical Skills:
- Proficient skill in understanding the mining plans, associated mining activities and their implications on day to day working, incorporating the input of the other mining functions.
- Proficient skill in achieving efficient and effective mining outcomes by applying technical knowledge of mining methods and ensuring compliance with the plan.
- Advance skill in new technologies and experience in varied mining operations and associated ways of working to drive increased value for the business.
- Expert in applying technical knowledge to evaluate sources of information, e.g. assesses which data sets are fit for purpose.
- Expert in analysing key performance data and applies insights to remove barriers and deliver high performance.
