Position: Upholsterer
Location: International placement onboard a cruise line
About the Opportunity:
Crew Life At Sea is currently recruiting Upholsterers on behalf of one of our cruise line partners. This specialized position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of furniture and upholstery in both guest and crew areas across the ship. From reupholstering chairs and sofas to wallpapering and carpet laying, this role demands craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a structured approach to interior maintenance.
All candidates placed through Crew Life At Sea are hired directly by the cruise line and are never charged recruitment or placement fees.
Role Responsibilities:
- Perform upholstery maintenance and repair on furniture throughout cabins, lounges, and public areas
- Replace or recover large-scale items such as sofas, chairs, and stools
- Apply wallpaper correctly and professionally
- Lay carpets and linoleum flooring as required
- Report missing materials and follow up with Storekeeper and superiors for inventory needs
- Share best practices in upholstery maintenance with team members
- Support the Deck Team during emergencies when necessary
- Assist the Furniture & Interior Officer team as directed
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow onboard health and safety regulations (HESS protocols)

Who We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in upholstery or a related trade (craftsmanship required)
- Additional experience in timber work or saddlery is a plus
- Skilled in the use of tools for upholstery, carpet laying, and interior finishes
- Well-organized and capable of managing repair tasks efficiently
- English language proficiency at A2 level or higher (CEFR scale)
- Strong sense of cleanliness, detail, and responsibility
- Commitment to safety and ability to follow procedures in a shipboard setting
