Industry:
Industrial Transmissions (Gearboxes and Motors) for applications like lifting, conveyors, mines, food processing etc. NOT AUTOMOBILE.
Experience:
1. Minimum 2-years experience assembling industrial gearboxes (planetary’s, worms, bevel helicals, shaft mounts etc). These are used in industrial applications like food processing, mining and lifting equipment. NOT AUTOMOBILE.
Qualifications:
1. Qualified Fitter
2. Forklift experience (License beneficial)
Skills:
1. Physically able to stand for extended periods.
2. Attention to process and detail.
3. Work in a team and on your own when required.
Duties:
A) Assembly, Fitting & Repairs
· Read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions accurately.
· Fit bearings, seals, shafts, gears, housings and other components to precise tolerances.
· Prepare, assemble, and test products and sub-assemblies to specification.
· Strip, assess, and repair units, drafting reports where required.
· Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
· Ensure correct components are used, testing is completed, and overall product is up to industry standards before being dispatched.
· Advise management of material requirements in due course.
· Advise in the decision regarding items that need to be reworked, accepted or returned to the supplier.
· Collate all materials required within your working area for the products you are working on. This may involve receiving and unloading deliveries.
· Ensure all materials or sub-assemblies are clearly identifiable with a job number and correlate with the job card.
· Ensure each product is correctly labelled.
· Inspect incoming components for damages, defects, or incorrect specifications before commencing with a job.
· Ensure that the aesthetics of the unit(s) remain at the highest quality.
· Ensure correct alignment, torque settings, clearances and preloads during assembly.
· Ensure all gearbox assemblies are labelled, documented and placed in the designated areas.
· Assist with stock control by reporting shortages, damaged parts or incorrect deliveries.
· Ensure testing is conducted and ensure leaks, noise, overheating and abnormal vibration detection is completed and corrections are made.
· Communicate with management and dispatch team regarding dispatching and receiving goods, and potential delays.
· Collaborate with fellow fitters and management to complete jobs according to industry standards.
· Communicate clearly with management regarding progress, delays or technical challenges.
· Uphold professional conduct and contribute positively to workshop culture.
· Identify any rectify assembly errors or quality issues before release.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of assembly stations, tools and workshop equipment.
· Keep the floors clean and free of tripping hazards.
· Assist with general housekeeping in the workshop.
· Adhere to company health and safety policies, including the proper use of PPE.
· Report any workplace hazards, damaged goods, or safety concerns to management.
· Ensure compliance with industry regulations regarding storage and handling.
· Complete relevant checklists as required.
