MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric certificate/ equivalent

Competent B Certificate is a pre-requisite and Competent A is advantageous

Medically fit

Valid First Aid Certificate

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Experience in supporting Fitters in mechanical maintenance, repair, and installation tasks

At least 3 years in a similar role

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Basic understanding of electrical systems, safe procedure, and electrical codes

Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act

Understanding blueprints and technical diagrams to assist in the fitting process

Working at heights and ability to work on elevated platforms or tight areas

Familiarity with hand and power tolls

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensuring tools and equipment’s are in good working order and assist with maintenance and troubleshooting

Helping to diagnose problems, replace parts and repair machinery under the guidance of skilled Fitter

Adhering to safety protocols and reporting any hazards or unsafe situations

Perform tasks as directed by Fitter, include carrying materials, cleaning work area, and maintaining a safe area

Lifting, carrying, and moving materials and equipment as needed

Cutting, bending, and shaping metal and other materials as needed for specific tasks
