ROLE PROFILE: WORKSHOP MANAGER
Job Type: Full-time
JOB OVERVIEW:
Manage and lead a team of technicians and trainees and support to ensure effective efficient repair and maintenance operations as well as refurbishment
Oversee the scheduling of repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure that all work is completed within set timelines.
Responsible to ensure a safe, efficient and productive working environment according to regulations and all laws relevant to the tasks.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Overall management, direction and control of all workshop functional departments to ensure maximum output
- Production and efficiency of the Workshop
- Oversight for ensuring that job cards are opened, allocated and that supplies are ordered for each job.
- Oversight of parts management-manage inward goods, checking quantities, dispatching goods and receipting goods
- Technical oversight - responsible for job allocation and job flow in the workshop including job scheduling
- Quality Control
- Direct and control staff to ensure that they carry out their responsibilities.
- Schedule and co-ordinate all aspects for maximum output
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and suppliers
- Develop effective working relationships with all employees to ensure harmonious relations in the workshop
- Develop and implement short and long term plans to ensure the workshop and staff has all the necessary resources to deliver timeously and efficiently
- Manage the workshop staff who report directly to you
- Attend weekly production/project meetings
- Plan your work on a weekly basis according to production/project schedule
- Be flexible in your focus to accommodate unforeseen production/project requirements - ie breakdowns
- Prepare a program of all prioritized work
- Provide daily feedback to Managing Director
- Develop and implement production/project schedule as basis for your planning requirements
- Ensure technicians are site ready - ie spares/paperwork/clothes/ppe etc
- Management of Technicians
- Ensure parts availability
- Technical support for Technicians on and off site
- Handle queries from site - Technician and Customer
- Monthly stock take
- Ensure vehicle service and maintenance is up to date
- Ensure vehicle licence is valid ( vehicle check list)
- Monthly vehicle checks mandatory
- Monthly tool checks mandatory
- Reporting accidents / incidents to Management
- Scheduling/allocation of vehicles to technicians
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12
- Minimum of 5 year's experience as a Workshop Manager
- Relevant Post Matric Qualifications will be an added advantage
Skills:
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Professional technical qualification, mechanical, electrical and hydraulics’ will be of great advantage.
- Knowledge of proper safety procedures, equipment maintenance, and workshop best practices.
- Ability to work with people at various levels from shop floor to senior management.
- People management skills and the ability to motivate others.

Package & Remuneration
Salary: R35,000.00 – R50,000.00 per month (NEG, DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE)
