PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To carry out all welding activities required for plant/section maintenance.
QUALIFICATION(S) & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Grade 12 / N3 with Mathematics and Science
- Qualified Welder with Trade Test
- Coded Welder - 6G
Experience:
- 3 years post trade test experience in a similar working environment
- Argon welding experience
Ideal Requirements:
Qualifications: (Same as minimum plus the following)
- Diploma in Engineering
- SAIW Certification

Completion of the following SHEQ training:
- GHSTC (General Safety, Health & Environmental Training)
- HIRA (Risk Analysis)
Experience:
- 5 years post trade test, relevant to the trade (advantageous)
HEADLINE KEY RESULT AREAS:
- Identify and use correct welding consumables for material
- Qualified to use stick arc welding and MIG welding machines
- Must have experience of argon welding and understand the methods of welding
- Ensure correct use of gas cutting and heating equipment
- Tack and arc weld work pieces incidental to the trade using manual metal arc welding techniques
- Utilise all tools and equipment required for welding
- Ensure that welding tasks and activities correspond with daily job cards
- Make sure that stores requisitions correspond with items received
- Effective knowledge of basic rigging
- Effective knowledge of drawings and sketches
- Adhere to requirements for safety within the work environment
- Effective cleaning after work completion
- Effective inspection and testing
