Job Description
- Boiler learner must follow safety procedures and regulations to ensure safe operations of the boilers and associated systems.
- Responsible for the housekeeping /maintenance of the boiler ad associated auxiliaries.
- Learner will work under the supervision of Senior Boiler Operator team, and follow their instructions as when required.
- Learner will have to maintain various product storage tanks and report any deviations to Boiler Operators on shift.
- Learner will be responsible to loading and offloading sodium and chemicals for process.
- Participate in the formal training plan for the learner ship; make reasonable progress to achieve the competencies in this regard; attend the necessary training or assessments related hereto.
- Perform duties required and make reasonable progress to achieve the competencies in the training plan.
- To attend any training or assessment related to the boiler training plan. (Shukela Training Centre) approximately 8 weeks theoretical and regulations.
- Keep the training record up to date, and produce it to the employer and/or training organisation, when requested.
- Adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures, work instructions, guidelines, regulations / legislation and programs & proactive action to identify and correct potential unsafe conditions and acts.
- Must be able to work on a rotational shift roster after 3 months’ probation, if the candidate declare competency.
Qualifications & Experience
- Matric / Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science/NQF Levels.
- Driver’s license will be added advantage
- Basic understanding of process plant and the importance of maintenance.
- Must be able to obtain health clearance to work in a chemical environment.
- Must be willing and have interest in Boiler Plant Operations
- Must be able to use basic hand tools
- Must be physical fit
- Must work a heights, confined spaces and inclement weather conditions.
