As a Business Continuity Manager, you will be accountable for working with various business units and subsidiaries in the Group to ensure the currency of business continuity planning, training, testing and attestation.
Purpose of the role:
• The purpose of this role is to assist and enable the Bank (Business Unit) to prepare for, and respond to IT-related disaster situations that involve extended system outages, by providing subject matter expertise to IT planning and support staff as well as business users;
• Play a compliance monitoring role by reporting on IT DR status of systems and infrastructure;
• Ensure an understanding of the relevant technical support and organizational structures and processes;
• Assist with the resolution of serious IT outages as required 24x7;
• Keep abreast of DR/BCP competency and technology changes;
• Recommend updates to the process guides and controls to ensure continuous improvement
Are you someone who has experience in:
- Capable of Disaster Recovery planning and co-ordination at complex levels
- Good knowledge of personal computing, distributed, midrange and mainframe platforms as well as an understanding of networks, and the application of these areas to DR
- ITIL and ITIL based processes
- Capable of performing complex scheduling, control, planning and influencing with minimal supervision
- Ability to work with people both individually and facilitation in groups
- Excellent verbal & written communication and presentation skills
- Decision making skills - making decisions and understanding the implications of such decisions
- Customer relations skills - keeping closer to the customer to build relationship
- Project management skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and monitor the progress of the Group BCM program
- Provide internal consultative advisory services to business units on all BCM matters
- Liaise with external parties in ensuring the adequacy of recovery plans of key service providers when necessary
- Lead all BCM led initiatives such as risk assessments, industry-wide exercises, joint exercises
- Coordinate and conduct business recovery exercises to validate the recovery strategies of business units on a regular basis
- Develop and conduct training on all aspects of BCM to employees to raise BCM awareness
- Set-up Crisis Management plans.
Business Continuity Plans
- Develop detailed BCP plans for the Business Unit. All documentation current and never out of date
- Plan BCP exercised as per implemented process: Monitored / tracked and Reported on
- Communications to Managers & Teams
- Develop Crisis Management and Pandemic Plans.
Disaster Recovery
- Develop detailed DR plans for the Business Unit. All documentation current and never out of date
- Plan DR exercised as per implemented process: Monitored / tracked and Reported on
- Communications to Managers & Teams
- Compliance to regulatory requirements
- Project Management and oversight
- Plan and execute on DR simulation across key areas on DR Scenarios;
- Approach;
- Documentation;

- Sign-off of scenario & Procedures;

- Degree in related technology field (Computer, Engineering, Science, etc.)
- Minimum of 5 years BCM/DR role; Coordination and planning with IT teams
- Preferred experience in IT industry (banking experience is beneficial, but not mandatory)
- Strong understanding of industry practices and international standards, including (ISO 22301, ISO 27001, BCI good practice guides -DRII and BCI).
