SAVCA is looking to appoint a passionate and dynamic CEO who will report into the Board, its relevant Committees and lead a team and who will be responsible for engaging with SAVCA’s various stakeholders including but not limited to its members from the private capital sector, associate members, regulatory stakeholders, funders (Limited Partners) and fund administrators.
This is a critical appointment for the organisation. The role requires the appointment of a credible professional with strong leadership capabilities and gravitas; who can add value to SAVCA and its ecosystem.
The CEO is a proactive, energetic, pragmatic, hardworking and inspirational leader with strong people and relationship skills who comes with a track record of leading teams and extensive takeholder management experience.
The applicant will require experience leading others directly as well as influencing and delivering indirectly through others.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy Leadership
- Implement SAVCA’s strategy as developed by the SAVCA Board, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s mission and strategic objectives.
- Analyse the long-term impact of priorities and initiatives on the growth and success of the industry.
2. Member Services
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with SAVCA full and associate members.
- Provide guidance and support as needed to enhance member experience.
- Oversee the execution of the member value proposition, focusing on both attracting and retaining members
3. Regulatory Advocacy
- Be aware of developments in legal, regulatory, policy and tax matters affecting the industry.
- Advocate for policies and regulations that create a conducive environment for private capital investment.
- Support the Regulatory Executive in building relationships with regulators and policymakers to positively influence regulatory and policy decisions.
4. Marketing and Communications
- Oversee the execution of communications and marketing plans to enhance SAVCA’s visibility and promote the asset class.
- Serve as a spokesperson and advocate for SAVCA, representing the interests of members to various stakeholders including investors, policymakers, regulators, media, and other relevant parties.
- Ensure responsiveness to any matters that materially affect the industry.
5. Stakeholder Management
- Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders including industry bodies, government officials, and other associations to advance the interests of the industry.
- Strike meaningful collaborations to build the ecosystem.
6. Research and Capacity Building
- Oversee the development and implementation of research initiatives to enhance industry knowledge and understanding.
- Oversee the development of resources, training, and networking opportunities to members to support their professional development and operational excellence.
7. Financial and Operational Management
- Ensure the financial viability and sustainability of SAVCA through effective budget management and resource allocation, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cost containment and co-funding or sponsorship opportunities.
- Monitor financial performance, analyse variances, and provide actionable insights to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
- Oversee operational activities to ensure efficient functioning of the organization.
- Oversee the maintenance of up-to-date records and documentation in SAVCA’s repositories.
- Oversee the development and implementation of organisational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
8. Leadership and Team Development
- Provide effective leadership to the organisation, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
- Oversee the development and implementation of strategies for talent acquisition, retention, and development.
- Support the Board and its sub-committees as well as other advisory committees to achieve their objectives.
9. Governance
- Ensure compliance with the Companies Act and SAVCA MOI.
- Ensure well-functioning sub-committees to enhance decision-making and reporting to the Board.
- Ensure effective oversight of risk management processes and reporting mechanisms.

- Industry Knowledge: Preference for an understanding of financial services in general and the private capital asset class in particular, including its key players, trends, challenges, and opportunities.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders and convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively. Establish the guidelines and oversee the creation of media content, including press releases, feature articles, interviews, presentations, and other types of PR content that increases brand awareness.
- Problem-Solving: The ability to analyse problems, develop creative solutions, and make informed decisions to address challenges facing the association and its members.
- Governance Support: Skill to ensure compliance as well as knowledge of corporate governance principles and best practices, including compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Policies and Systems: Experience in developing and implementing organizational policies and procedures, with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements.

Qualifications and Experience
- Post – Graduate degree in Business, Finance or related.
- Minimum of 10 years senior management experience, preferably in finance
and investment management
