Position Overview
The Counter Sales Representative will be responsible for providing exceptional in-store customer service, driving product sales, and offering technical guidance on SECURITEK’s security, surveillance, automation and ITC product range. This role requires a customer-focused individual with strong product knowledge and the ability to convert enquiries into sales. Also willing to learn and be upskilled.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and professionally, identifying their needs and providing tailored product recommendations.
- Sell SECURITEK’s full range of security products, including CCTV systems, alarm systems, access control, ICT and automation solutions.
- Provide technical advice, product demonstrations, and accurate quotations.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product features, pricing, promotions, and industry trends.
- Handle customer queries, concerns, and returns in line with company policy.
- Assist with stock control, merchandising, and ensuring displays are well-presented.
- Work closely with internal sales, technical, and dispatch teams to ensure seamless customer service. Ensuring good stakeholder relationships.
- Support the achievement of store sales targets and KPIs.
Required Competencies & Skills
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of security, surveillance, and automation products (training provided).
- Sales Skills: Proven ability to close sales and upsell related products.
- Customer Service: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to assess customer needs and propose suitable solutions.
- Numeracy Skills: Accuracy in handling cash, card payments, and preparing quotations.
- Organisation: Ability to manage multiple customer enquiries efficiently.
- Computer Literacy: Proficient in POS systems, MS Office, and email.
Qualifications & Experience
- Matric / Grade 12 (essential).
- Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in retail, counter sales, or similar role.
- Experience in the security product industry highly advantageous.
Recommended Industry-Specific Duties
- Provide live product demonstrations (e.g., CCTV feed setup, alarm system activation).
- Offer guidance on installation requirements and compatibility.
- Liaise with technical team for product configuration or troubleshooting.
- Stay informed on emerging security technologies and competitor offerings.
- Applicants must reside in Ormonde or surrounding areas (or within a reasonable commuting distance).
- Must have, or be able to arrange, reliable transport to and from work.
