Job description:
This is an opportunity to join a well-established office and team which is growing rapidly. We require a Deceased Estate Administrator and Wills drafter to provide an efficient fiduciary service to the existing and growing client base. You will also be supporting the financial advisors in the office in a supporting role in as far as fiduciary services are concerned i.e. providing training regarding existing legislation pertaining to estate administration and wills, changes in taxation legislation and other relevant legislation.
In this role you will be a senior estate administrator and wills drafter and will be allocated a portfolio of clients and be dealing with clients directly.
Responsibilities:
- Independent administration of complex deceased estates and high net worth clients in terms of relevant legislation
- In depth knowledge of income tax, CGT, VAT and estate duty act, situs tax and international probate
- Receive completed deceased estate reporting documents from client relatives and make in-person and/or telephonic contact with the clients
- Manual intake of estates
- Report the deceased estate to relevant stakeholders via written correspondence, newspaper and Government Gazette
- Advertise (e.g. advertise in the local newspaper and Government Gazette) and for any debtors or creditors (section 29 notification) in respect of the estate late
- Receive relevant information as requested by the various stakeholders and start redeeming and transferring assets
- Draft the liquidation and distribution account to reveal the true reflection of the assets and liabilities as at date of death and submit outstanding tax returns
- Advertise (for twenty one (21) days) the Liquidation and Distribution account in the local newspaper / Government Gazette and with the Magistrate in the district were the deceased resided twelve (12) months prior
- Obtain final tax assessment from SARS and finalise the deceased estate
- Achieve set target as set out by director at the beginning of the year
- Ensure that post (incoming mail, fax and correspondence) and filing is up to date as per the company norms
- Keep clients updated on progress of the estate
- Maintain a high standard of service during the administration process without supervision
- Build and maintain a relationship with various stakeholders (i.e. valuators, auctioneers, attorneys, Master of the High Court, South African Revenue Service)
- Ensure that queries do not turn into complaints by addressing these within a reasonable time
- Adhere to PSG Wealth Trust compliance requirements and industry related legislations
- Adhere to business processes and controls practice; non-adherence may lead to disciplinary actions
- Complete compulsory compliance and legislation training within the required time-frames as prescribed and may be required by PSG Wealth Trust
- Adhere to risk and compliance policies in terms of Environmental Health and Safety, Information Security, Records Management and Money Laundering, Sanctions
- Be knowledgeable on the Estate Administration Act
Minimum Requirements:
- Relevant law degree (LLB (B.Proc) or B.Com)
- Admitted Attorney (in good standing certificate)
- Regulatory Exam for Representatives passed (RE5)
- At least 10 years relevant work experience within the financial industry & similar role as Wills drafter & Deceased Estate Administrator
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle
- Proficient in both spoken and written English.
- Member of relevant regulatory board (Fiduciary Institute of South Africa)
