Overview
The purpose of the job is to administer and safeguard the stocks in the magazine. This includes receipt and dispatch of products, stock administration, SHERQ and housekeeping. To ensure that all the prescribed duties are carried out in line with all statutory, legal and BME SHERQ requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Valid Driver’s license
- CIE certificate
Experience
- 2 years’ demonstrated experience in material handling
- 2 years’ demonstrated experience in magazine & stock control within the mining explosives environment
Duties
Receipt of bulk products
- Responsible for receiving finished products from the plant as well as other orders placed by the operations foreman
- Responsible for ensuring that these are off-loaded in the correct silo in a secure and safe manner
- Upon receipt of the products, required to check the goods against the delivery note and sign it
- Required to book the newly arrived load into the Register Book
- In the event of detecting any discrepancies, verifies the physical delivery with the driver and duly informs the Operations Foreman for further action
Dispatch of bulk goods
- Will receive Schedule of Orders from the Operations Foreman
- Responsible for checking that the CTP corresponds to the order
- Prior to loading of the order, responsible for completing the pre-issue checklist to make sure that the vehicle and driver comply with all prescriptions
- In the event of non-compliance will request the driver to rectify the matter or otherwise contact the Operations Foreman for higher level action
- Responsible for ensuring that the order is moved from the silo and loaded into the truck in and orderly and safe manner
- Makes out a Delivery Note / requisition for the order and hands over a copy to the driver and a copy to the Administrator
- Enters the detail of the delivery / dispatch in the Register Book
Stocks
- Responsible for the security of the company’s assets stored in the magazine / silo
- On a daily basis required to perform a physical stock take
- Required to compare and reconcile the physical stock amounts to the Register Book
- In the event of detecting any discrepancies, required to troubleshoot to find the cause of the problem and make the necessary corrections
- Reports weekly stock count figures to Administrator
- Required to follow FIFO principles in organising dispatches
- Required to monitor age of stock and inform the Magazine Master / Operations Foreman for taking further action
Housekeeping
- Responsible for the housekeeping of the magazine / silo’s and yard to ensure that these areas are neat, tidy and safe
