NACOSA is looking for a dynamic and experienced candidate District Officer to support the implementation and coordination of the capacity building and survivor economic empowerment programme with a community partner in the West Rand District, Gauteng.
This is a part-time position and presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to social change and economic empowerment (SEE) for survivors of gender-based violence.

NACOSA (Networking HIV, AIDS Community of South Africa) is a leading non-profit organisation working in communities across South Africa. It focuses on building strong, resilient organisations and communities to respond effectively to HIV, AIDS, TB, gender-based violence (GBV), and broader public health and social challenges.
The duties and responsibilities of the District Officer will include, but not limited to:
General Programme Implementation:
- Support community-based organisations (CBOs) with capacity assessments.
- Provide information on funding opportunities to drive organisational sustainability.
- Conduct quarterly oversight and support site visits to CBOs.
- Monitor progress and identify areas where further training or technical assistance is needed.
- Collect, verify, and submit programme data, attendance registers, and reports in line with NACOSA requirements.
- Track progress against targets and assist with donor reporting requirements.
- Promote linkages to social economic empowerment opportunities, resources, and support services.
Capacity Building support:
- Support CBOs with the delivery of four training courses at a central location.
- Provide mentoring and technical assistance to CBOs, guided by the Capacity Building Plan.
Survivor Economic Empowerment interventions:
- Provide technical assistance with the appointment of a service provider to deliver skills training to the SEE participants, based on community needs.
- Facilitate group mentoring sessions with participants
- Continuous support to A Re Ageng for the SEE implementation activities
- Collaboration and support the linkage of business stakeholders (e.g. NYDA/LEDA) to entrepreneurs
- Engage with local stakeholders and partner organisations to strengthen programme outcomes.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to the CBO to strengthen networking relationships.
- A tertiary qualification in Social Science, Public Health, Community Development or related field.
- At least 3 years’ experience in programme implementation within the NGO or community development sector.
- A thorough understanding of the gender-based violence, women's rights, HIV, TB and economic empowerment programme.
- Experience in report writing, data collection and monitoring and evaluation.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and report preparation.
- Good communication, facilitation and inter-personal skills on all levels.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Valid unendorsed driver’s license (non-negotiable)

- Strong planning, prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to work across multiple projects.
- Willingness to travel within South Africa
