What You Will Do
As a Health & Safety Officer Intern at Johnson Controls, you’ll play a vital role in fostering a safe and compliant work environment across our project sites. Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting safety inductions for new employees, visitors, and subcontractors
Compiling and maintaining safety files and updating the EHSIS system weekly
Leading risk identification and safety training sessions
Performing site inspections, safety audits, and incident investigations
Promoting a strong safety culture and driving our Zero Harm philosophy
Supporting administrative tasks such as reviewing SHE plans and risk assessments
How You Will Do It
You’ll succeed by combining technical knowledge with strong interpersonal skills:
Apply your understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act) to ensure compliance
Use tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to manage documentation and training materials
Deliver engaging internal training and safety coaching to teams and subcontractors
Collaborate with diverse individuals, recognizing that mistakes are part of learning and growth
Balance your time across audits (20%), training (20%), and admin/documentation (60%)
What We Look For
We’re looking for someone passionate about safety and eager to grow:
A SAMTRAC qualification is required; a Safety Diploma is a plus
0–1 years of experience in health and safety—perfect for recent graduates or early-career professionals
Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude
Ability to build trust and positive relationships with clients and subcontractors
A commitment to continuous learning and promoting safety awareness
