Responsible for managing a team of production personnel in a metal fabrication environment with a strong focus on fabrication and quality production. The role involves overseeing daily production, ensuring quality standards, mentoring staff, and maintaining safety and efficiency.
Requirements
- Strong technical knowledge in metal fabrication and problem-solving.
- Proven leadership skills and experience managing teams.
- Ability to read drawings, inspect welds, and apply fabrication standards.
- Red Seal qualification in welding / boilermaking will be advantageous.
- Proficient in using systems like SysPro MOM and Microsoft Teams.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage production output and meet performance targets (SQDCM KPIs).
- Lead, train, and motivate the fabrication team.
- Oversee job scheduling, material prep, and compliance with fabrication standards.
- Conduct quality inspections and ensure alignment with engineering drawings.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives and safety practices.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workplace organization.
Daily Activities
- Update Production Boards: Ensure shop floorboards are updated daily.
- Morning Meetings: Lead daily action centre meetings to review performance KPIs and escalate key issues to the Production Floor Manager.
- Production Oversight: Monitor team progress on scheduled jobs to ensure timely delivery and productivity.
- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve production issues through innovative solutions.
- Quality Control: Inspect outputs for quality, apply corrective/preventive actions, and control weld distortion and sequences.
- Workplace Standards: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace following 5S principles and OH&S regulations.
- Station Inspections: Perform daily checks on fabrication stations for safety and operational readiness.
- Consumables Management: Ensure proper availability and use of fabrication consumables.
