Position overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Intern to join our finance team. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial analysis, reporting, and strategic planning within a dynamic business environment. The ideal candidate will assist in various financial tasks, contributing to the organization's financial health and decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounts Payable: The duties shall include but not be limited to:
1.1 Receive requests from suppliers.
1.2 Capture and process all accounts due to suppliers.
1.3 Process the accounts on the system.
1.4 Ensure all suppliers get paid the amounts due to them in a timely manner.
1.5 Complete your required section of the monthly reconciliation.
1.6 Check everything regarding the accounts of all suppliers and ensure there are no issues.
1.7 Send the required information to the Finance Manager.
1.8 Once approval is given by the Finance Manager, file the account on the system (per supplier/per month).
2. Invoices: The duties shall include but not be limited to:
2.1 Invoices to be processed within the relevant time frame as stipulated in the Accounts Payable procedure.
2.2 Ensure that all invoices adhere to the SARS requirements.
2.3 To ensure that there is a proper description of the goods/services being purchased; that it’s not duplicated in the Accounts Payable (AP) account in the system and that the correct general ledger code is used.
2.4 Ensure that serial numbers are quoted on the invoice where applicable.
2.5 Ensure that the relevant purchase order is attached with the correct invoice.
2.6 Ensure relevant invoices are duly authorized as per the Delegation of Authority (DOA) Policy.
2.7 Ensure that this document is authorized either by the Financial Controller/CFO prior to processing the invoice.
3. General: The duties shall include but not be limited to:
3.1 Assist with ad hoc tasks as and when needed across the finance function.
Education and Experience
· Education:
- Matric or NQF equivalent
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Financial management or Accounting.
· Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in finance or a related role is preferred but not required.
Skills and Competencies
- Must be IT literate.
- Basic knowledge of financial software.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent observation skills.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong administration skills.
- Good communication skills for interacting with team members, and other stakeholders.
- Enjoy working in a team but also can work independently.
- Be patient, tactful, diplomatic, and approachable.
- Demonstration of customer service orientation.
