A well-known hotel and golf course in Phalaborwa is seeking the services of a Golf Operations Supervisor. The Golf Operations Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the golf course, pro shop, and other golf-related services.
This includes managing staff, coordinating tee times, maintaining inventory, ensuring exceptional customer service, and upholding the highest standards of golf course management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in golf course operations, leadership, and a passion for creating a top-tier guest experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Golf Course Operations:
- Manage and oversee daily operations, including tee time management, course setup, and golf cart maintenance ensuring a seamless experience for members and guests.
- Ensure all golf facilities, equipment, and carts are maintained to the highest standards.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the golfer’s journey, from check-in to on-course experience and post-game amenities.
- Implement and manage operational procedures to maintain efficiency and excellence in all areas of golf operations.
2. Instruction & Player Development:
- Provide high-quality golf instruction to members and guests, including private lessons, clinics, and junior programs.
3. Staff Management & Training:
- Supervise and train golf operations staff, including pro shop attendants, starters, and marshals. Lead customer service initiatives by training staff, monitoring guest satisfaction, and implementing feedback-driven improvements.
- Schedule and ensure adequate coverage for all shifts, while maintaining excellent employee performance and morale.
- Foster a culture of professionalism and customer service excellence.
4. Pro Shop & Retail Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the pro shop, including inventory management, sales, and customer interactions.
- Develop product ordering, display, and promotional strategies to maximize retail sales.
- Ensure that the pro shop maintains a high standard of presentation.
5. Customer Service & Member Relations:
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive and enjoyable experience for golfers, members, and guests.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
- Work closely with the food and beverage team to ensure golfers have an exceptional dining and hospitality experience.
6. Financial & Administrative Duties:
- Assist with budgeting and cost control for golf operations, ensuring profitability.
- Maintain accurate records for tee times, member accounts, and golf course usage.
- Generate regular reports to track operational performance, inventory, and sales.
7. Event Coordination:
- Plan and execute golf events, tournaments, and corporate outings. Collaborate with the Golf Director to create engaging programs, tournaments, and special events that enhance member and guest participation.
- Collaborate with marketing and events teams to promote and ensure successful events.
8. Rules & Policies Enforcement:
- Uphold club policies and golf rules to maintain an enjoyable environment for all players.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Passion for golf and delivering an exceptional experience to all customers.
- Strong teaching and coaching skills with a proven track record of player development.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with a keen eye for detail.
EXPERIENCE:
- PGA Class A Professional certification required, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in golf course operations or a related managerial role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and golf management software (e.g., Clubmaster)
