Group Financial Controller
Location: Umhlanga
Reporting to: Group Finance Manager
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
· Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
· SAICA / SAIPA articles completed
· Proven experience in a related finance role, at least 2 years post articles experience
· Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
· Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
· Excellent / Advanced excel skills
· Excellent Pastel knowledge
· Excellent Caseware knowledge
· Analytical, strategic, strong business acumen, entrepreneurial
· Able to make strategic decisions with respect to current portfolio
· Ideally Durban based
· Adding value to the finance function from a reporting, analytics, forecasting, budgeting, business planning perspective
· Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounting entries, where required
· Drafting of annual financial statements
· Assist with tax audits and tax returns
· Monthly management accounts
· Support month-end and year-end close process
· Plan, assign and review staff’s work
Systems
· Operate on the best IT platforms, well-structured and well-run systems
· Pastel, Caseware and VIP Payroll - finance systems
· SARS e-filing (Tax returns)

· VAT/PAYE and Income Tax knowledge
· Excellent numeracy and excel skills

· Able to manage priorities and time, effectively
· Ability to work in a diverse culture
· Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
· Ability to analyse and reconcile complex accounts and reserves
