Our client, situated in Devland, Soweto, in the manufacturing industry is seeking an individual with a multi-function competence set in Human Resources. The ideal individual will have working knowledge of HR related policies and procedures, employment legislation and payroll. The ideal candidate understands the HR life cycle and the management of each of these stages. A strong proficiency in payroll management (SAGE) is crucial as this is one of the core functions for this position. However, the candidate will also manage and oversee all other HR related functions and processes.
The environment operates 24/7 and produces products for both local and international markets. With a headcount of almost 400 employees, health & safety practices are paramount and there is a close working relationship between HR and the various Managers, COO and CEO.
The position reports to the COO.
Payroll
- Weekly payroll is done on a Thursday for wage staff covering their shifts from the preceding Thursday (06:00) to the nightshift of the following Wednesday.
- You will be required to be detailed, precise and action orientated to ensure that all 300 employees ERS hours are managed and loaded correctly.
- Monthly payrolls are managed for Executives, Salaried Staff, Learnerships and a Monthly Wage group.
Day-to-day management of:
- Factory & Warehouse staff attendance
- Weekly payroll management (approx 300 employees)
- Shift patterns
- Employee queries relating to payroll, leave, wellness
- Disciplinary processes
- IOD management
- Management of Security & Cleaning Service Providers
Monthly process management
- Monthly payrolls (x4 payroll entities) (approx 100 people)
- Monthly Headcount reporting
- Employment Contracts
- Overseeing, guiding and coaching the HR Intern
Adhoc
- Annual local and international audit for business certification
- COID
- Training programs and legislative license requirements
- Employment Equity
- BBBEE Audit - annually (HR specific items)
- Union interaction with the Factory Manager
Skills assumed to be in place:
- Matric
- Post matric qualification in HR with payroll experience (SAGE)
- SABPP membership with Commissioner of Oath (advantageous)
- 3-5 years well rounded HR experience in the manufacturing or wholesale industries
- Have worked with shift patterns and understand continuous shift patterns
- Working knowledge of BCEA, EEA, LRA, Job Grading and Recruitment practice
- Ability to work with employees at various levels within the organisation
- Excellent communication, listening and negotiation skills
- Ability to be flexible in work approach
- Excel proficient (intermediate level)
This position is situated in Devland, Soweto and requires a 5-day onsite presence. It does not cater for flexi-hours or work from home, unless there is a specific requirement as managed by the business.
