Job Opportunity: Junior Bookkeeper & Payroll Assistant – Lex Pools

Salary: From R15,000 (depending on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM
+ 1 Saturday per month, 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Lex Pools, a leader in the swimming pool heating and systems industry, is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Junior Bookkeeper & Payroll Assistant to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for numbers and a desire to build practical accounting experience in a hands-on, small-business environment.
You will work closely with our senior team and external accountants to support daily financial operations, including bookkeeping, payroll support, and communication with suppliers and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in capturing and maintaining accurate financial records
- Process and reconcile supplier invoices and payments
- Assist with payroll preparation and processing, including reviewing timesheets and data entry into payroll systems
- Support VAT and PAYE submissions under guidance
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal staff regarding accounts
- Prepare supporting documents for year-end financial submissions
Requirements:
- 1–2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, or a strong academic background
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and payroll processes
- Familiarity with Sage One Accounting and Payroll is a strong advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic reporting
- Familiarity with WCA and EMP501 submissions is an advantage
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification (or currently studying toward one)
