A well-known hotel and golf course in Phalaborwa is seeking the services of a Landscape Gardener, who will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the golf course grounds, gardens, and surrounding areas.
This role involves planting, pruning, watering, weeding, and general upkeep of landscaped areas to ensure the property is visually appealing, safe, and in excellent condition for members and guests.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain all landscaped areas including flower beds, ornamental gardens, walkways, and clubhouse surroundings.
- Plant seasonal flowers, shrubs, and trees in accordance with design plans and maintenance schedules.
- Perform general garden care such as watering, weeding, mulching, trimming, pruning, and fertilizing.
- Monitor plant health and apply pest control or treatment as needed.
- Operate and maintain landscaping tools and machinery such as lawn mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
- Assist with minor irrigation maintenance, including checking and repairing sprinkler heads.
- Ensure all outdoor areas are clean and free from litter and debris.
- Collaborate with the Greenkeeping team to support the overall maintenance of the golf course.
- Follow all safety protocols and club standards in carrying out duties.
Qualifications:
- Formal training or certification in horticulture or landscaping (advantageous but not required).
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience in landscaping, gardening, or horticulture.
- Knowledge of plants, soils, irrigation, and garden maintenance techniques.
- Ability to operate gardening and landscaping equipment safely and effectively.
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and pride in maintaining a pristine environment.
