Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective management of logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution. This role involves planning, coordinating, and optimizing the flow of materials, goods, and information to meet customer requirements and support the overall business objectives.
Job Description
Missions
- Contribute to make LESAFFRE known as a Global Key Actor in Bread-making Solutions (Yeasts, Bread-Making Ingredients, Technical Support) in the Republic of South Africa
- Structure and optimize the financial performance of the company, including its reporting, cash-flow management, and return on investments.
- Ensure compliance with the South African tax and legal regulations, in accordance with the Lesaffre principles in term of compliance and anti-corruption
Main responsibilities
Logistics Planning and Optimization
- Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies to support the company's supply chain and distribution needs for Lesaffre South Africa, Aries Baking Supplies, and Bakelab
- Analyze historical data, forecast demand, and plan logistics operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products
- Optimize transportation routes, resource utilization, and inventory management to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align logistics activities with production, sales, and customer requirements
Operations Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the logistics department, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution
- Manage and coordinate the activities of logistics personnel, including Logistics Coordinators, and Drivers
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to logistics and transportation
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
Vendor and Carrier Management
- Evaluate and select reliable logistics service providers, such as carriers, freight forwarders, and warehousing partners
- Negotiate favorable rates and terms with vendors and carriers, and manage ongoing relationships
- Monitor the performance of logistics service providers and address any issues or concerns
- Collaborate with vendors and carriers to optimize logistics processes and explore new opportunities
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of logistics operations
- Analyze data and generate reports to support decision-making and strategic planning
- Stay informed of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in logistics management
- Provide training and development opportunities for logistics personnel to enhance their skills and knowledge
Qualifications
Skills
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a logistics management role, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment
- Proven track record of successfully managing logistics operations and leading a team
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management is preferred
Technical Skills
- Proficient in logistics management software, transportation management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to logistics and transportation
