Job Purpose
The Nurse will be part of The Pink Forum’s mobile outreach team, delivering quality healthcare services to children across early childhood development centres (ECDs). This role focuses on conducting health screenings, basic treatments, health education, and follow-ups, ensuring the well-being and development of children in underserved communities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Clinical Care & Screenings
- Conduct physical health screenings, developmental checks, and vital sign assessments for children.
- Identify and refer cases needing advanced care to appropriate medical facilities or specialists.
- Administer basic first aid, wound care, and medication where authorised.
- Support wellness days and vaccination campaigns as required.
2. Health Education & Advocacy
- Educate ECD staff, parents, and caregivers on hygiene, nutrition, and child health topics.
- Promote preventive healthcare practices to reduce common childhood illnesses.
- Advocate for the health rights of children in alignment with The Pink Forum’s mission.
3. Record-Keeping & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records in line with POPIA requirements.
- Provide regular health reports to management for monitoring and evaluation.
- Assist in data collection for program impact tracking and reporting.
4. Team Collaboration
- Work closely with occupational therapists, social workers, and other professionals to ensure holistic care.
- Participate in case discussions and contribute to integrated child wellness plans.
- Support other outreach services when required.
5. Compliance & Professional Standards
- Follow The Pink Forum’s policies, Department of Labour guidelines, and professional nursing standards.
- Uphold strict confidentiality and professional boundaries when working with children and families.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and child-friendly clinical environment.
Requirements:
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in child health, community nursing, or primary healthcare.
- Passion for working with children and improving community health.
- Strong communication, record-keeping, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to travel between ECD centres and work in township communities.
