Job Title: Paintshop Spray Painter Operator
Location: Gqeberha
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Complete the job tasks in strict accordance with the work instructions, process cards and SOPs to perform the following duties:
· Applying multiple layers of coats to achieve sufficient paint coverage and a high-quality paint finish.
· Troubleshoot and resolve paint–related issues.
· Work collaboratively with other team members to meet production deadlines and quality standards.
· Correct or improve the quality problems in the paint application process, timely put forward improvement suggestions to the superior.
· Apply due care and diligence and abide by all safety rules, policies, and procedures of the company and the paint shop.
· Carefully implement the safety operation procedures of the paint process, carry out daily inspection of the spraying equipment as required before operation (TPM).
· Properly clean and store all spraying equipment in the designated area.
· Escalate to your superior equipment wear & tear, paint application quality issues, and environment-related issues.
· Responsible for maintaining the daily onsite working environment and doing 5S work diligently at all times.
· Comply with all rules, policies, procedures, and Human Resources related matters, and conduct oneself in accordance with company rules, comply with Management requirements, and complete other temporary work arranged by the leader outside normal production in a timeous manner and to instructions given by Superiors. Be willing to work outside normal working hours when required to.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Matric/ Grade 12
· 8 years of work experience, of which at least 5 years within the Automotive Industry
· Previous experience in an automotive paintshop working environment and with good understanding of the paintshop workflow process.
· AMIC certification or equivalent certification is an added advantage.
COMPETENCIES:
· Paint Application Skills with a basic understanding of paints & defects associated with the paint application process. Ability to be proactive in avoiding paint-related defects.
· Proficiency in using spray guns, understanding their settings and techniques, and how to maintain them.
· Good manual dexterity with good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
· Basic understanding of paint shop safety and quality standards
· Communication and teamwork
