Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Climate change and Health

Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI)
Full time

AHRI is always looking for talented and motivated staff to join our multidisciplinary team. We offer a highly diverse, professional and supportive environment with opportunities for development and growth.

Description:

The Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) seeks to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (PDRF) to work with an interdisciplinary team on a new project which seeks to estimate the social, economic, health and healthcare impact of the April 2022 KwaZulu-Natal floods on PLHIV and evaluate high priority policy interventions using participatory methods and multi-criteria decision analysis.

Overview of Duties:

Background

Due to the increased frequency and severity of extreme weather events (EWEs), such as floods in South Africa, there is the increased risk of poor health outcomes especially for the most vulnerable populations, especially people living with HIV (PLHIV), in our society. This is because the impacts of these events can be unevenly experienced and managed by different societies and population groups. This new project provides an opportunity to work with an impressive multidisciplinary team working on climate change and health issues. The candidate will work within the climate change and health programme under the guidance of the principal investigator and the mentorship of the study principal investigators and co-investigators. This position is based across the two AHRI campuses and accepted candidates will be based in Durban while supporting the study at both sites.
