As part of its promotion of the scholarship of teaching and learning, the Faculty seeks to appoint a Professor / Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer in Information Technology (IT) Education & Computer Assisted Technology (CAT) Education within the Business Sciences Education Cluster (BSEC).
Key Performance Areas
The successful incumbent will make a significant contribution to the development of the Faculty. He/ She will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
- Facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Information Technology (IT) Education, Computer
- Assisted Technology (CAT) Education, Robotics and Coding Theory
- Conduct research and publish in the fields of Information Technology (IT) Education, Computer Assisted Technology (CAT) Education, Robotics and Coding Theory
- Construct a coherent research agenda consistent with the broad research goals of the Business Sciences Education Cluster and within the Faculty
- Promote and support research activities in the Business Sciences Education Cluster including applications for funded research, and cooperation with SSME and SLCA in research initiatives
- Postgraduate supervision
- Provide academic leadership
- Curriculum development and assessment
- Scholarship of engagement for societal impact
- Serve on committees devoted to the development of the Business Sciences Education Cluster and faculty objectives
Minimum requirements for appointment at the rank of Professor:
- A PhD or equivalent, in the field of Information Technology (IT) Education or Computer Science Education or a related field
- A qualification with Computer Science OR Information Systems
- A strong academic record, with extensive experience in facilitating learning and teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, preferably in one of the following subject areas: Information Technology (IT) Education,
Computer Assisted Technology (CAT) Education, Robotics and Coding Theory - A strong track record of quality academic research with at least 15 DHET accredited publications related to the field of IT Education and/or CAT Education
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision of Masters and PhD students
- Evidence of expertise, national standing, and definite international presence in his/her discipline.
- The integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or research
- Leadership experience at both departmental and faculty levels
- Undergraduate computer science/information systems at NQF level 6
Minimum requirements for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor:
- A PhD or equivalent, in the field of Information Technology (IT) Education or Computer Science Education or a related field
- A qualification with Computer Science OR Information Systems
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, preferably in one of the following subject areas: Information Technology (IT) Education, Computer Assisted Technology (CAT) Education, Robotics and Coding Theory
- A track record of quality academic research with at least 10 DHET-accredited publications related to the field of IT Education and/or CAT Education
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision of Masters and PhD students
- Evidence of expertise and national standing in his/her field of research
- The integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or research
- Leadership experience at both departmental and faculty levels
- Undergraduate computer science/information systems at NQF level 6
Minimum requirements for appointment at the rank of Senior Lecturer:
- A PhD or equivalent, in the field of Information Technology (IT) Education or Computer Science Education or a related field
- A qualification with Computer Science OR Information Systems
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, preferably in one of the following subject areas: Information Technology (IT) Education, Computer Assisted Technology (CAT) Education, Robotics and Coding Theory
- A track record of quality academic research with at least 4 DHET accredited publications related to the field of IT Education and/or CAT Education
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision of Masters and PhD students
- Evidence of expertise and national standing in his/her field of research
- The integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or research
- Leadership experience at both departmental and faculty levels
- Undergraduate computer science/information systems at NQF level 6
The following would be added advantages and/or recommendations for the Professor level (in addition to the above minimum requirements):
- A NRF Rating is a strong recommendation
