Senior Solar PV Electrical Project Engineer — Fixed-Term (12 months)
Intro to client:We’re supporting a leading renewable energy player to appoint a Senior Solar PV Electrical Project Engineer on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Role is South Africa site based with travel. Start: ASAP. Only open to south africans
Basic responsibilities:
Lead the electrical scope from detailed design → commissioning → COD.
Produce/review SLDs, stringing, cable sizing, earthing & lightning, MV and protection coordination.
Manage grid connection (utility liaison, self-build works), compliance, SCADAintegration.
Compile ERs/specs/BoQs; review OEM datasheets (inverters/transformers/switchgear/relays); resolve TQs/CRs.
Oversee FAT/SAT, site QA/QC, performance testing, as-builts and O&M handover.
Requirements:
BEng/BSc Electrical Engineering (essential); PrEng/PrTech advantageous.
10+ yrs solar PV with strong MV design & protection;
Proficient in PVSyst & AutoCAD; a plus.
Solid knowledge of SANS, NRS IEC and utility/grid-code processes.
Strong stakeholder communication; valid driver’s licence; willing to travel.
