VACCANCY
Position: Reptile Keeper at the Montecasino Bird Gardens
Requirements:
- A Grade 12 certificate is a must.
- Tertiary qualifications will be an advantage.
- Must have a valid vehicle driver’s licence.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience working with different reptiles.
- Passionate about Reptiles, Amphibians, Invertebrates.
- Must have knowledge on amphibians and Arachnida.
- Well spoken/writing of the English language.
- A good leader, timekeeper disciplined, friendly, hardworking, dynamic, team player, self motivated and physically fit.
- Be able to work weekends, public holidays and overtime.
Responsibilities:
- Keep to the Montecasino Bird Garden’s operational standards and Ethics at all times.
- Daily husbandry requirements are met.
- Daily record keeping.
- Assist with daily animal feeding
- Assist with reptile demonstrations and talks to public.
- Assist with veterinary procedures and treatments when required.
- Always ensure safe animal handling.
- Provide animals with environmental enrichment.
- Assist with continuous enclosure maintenance.
- Assist members of public and always be approachable and friendly.
- Adhere to Bird Garden policies, SOPs and code of conduct.
- Adhere to, communicate and implement health and safety procedures.
- Ensure compliance with provincial, governmental and international laws concerning the keeping, transporting and relocating of animals.
- Ensure that general hygiene and Biosecurity is upheld on the section.
- Assist with general pest control in the park.
