As a Sous Chef in our upcoming signature restaurant at Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel you are part of a team that shapes the culinary experience of our guests. In this role, you will master the art of delivering an exceptional gastronomic experience in our new signature restaurant which offers an immersive marine dining experience, transporting guests into the mysterious beauty and biodiversity of the surrounding Two Oceans.
Open 5 days a week, with set off days being Sunday and Monday, launching in Quarter 4 2025. We are looking for an exceptional leader who embodies the Mount Nelson values and will lead the team to success.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- To work alongside the Head Chef to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing staff, assisting with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, and monitoring orders and stock.
- Coordinating food production and controlling food quality, taste and presentation of dishes.
- Ensuring adherence to all health, safety and security procedures in the Kitchen.
Requirements
What You Bring:
- Good knowledge of cooking styles, hygiene & safety standards and working in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proven Leadership skills.
- Previous experience managing a kitchen team of 15 or more.
