The Senior Associate Technical Writer is a developing subject matter expert, responsible for writing write less complex company documents such as instruction manuals, intermediate to end-user manuals, reference guides, operating procedure guides, white papers, and specialized product descriptions.
This role is responsible for writing technical ideas in simple ways. This role is responsible to research, create, write and edit content.
The Senior Associate Technical Writer takes guidance from a more experienced Technical Writer in the team, or alternatively from line management.
Key responsibilities:
- Creates clear and concise material, taking care of editing and proofreading tasks.
- Updates and maintains a library of service catalogues and associated documents such as RACI's.
- Revises or rewrites existing technical documentation.
- Conducts research and gathers information and study target audiences.
- Tests whether users understand newly developed material.
- Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the subject is understood.
- Works closely with printers, illustrators, graphic designers, translators and other relevant professionals.
- Stays up to date with the latest trends and developments in the industry.
- Takes guidance from more experienced members in the team/line management.
- Compiles information by order of usability.
- Organizes all documents into the database and makes copies for data security.
- Performs any other related task as required.
To thrive in this role, you need to have:
- Developing ability to conduct proper subject matter research to enable the writing of relevant material.
- Ability to do effective plan out any development requirements.
- Excellent communication skills to be able to transfer knowledge without resorting to complex language.
- Ability to apply critical thinking to sift through relevant vs irrelevant information.
- Developing knowledge of writing software tools.
- Ability to do efficient proof reading.
- Ability to interact with all stakeholders – technical and non-technical.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical people.
- Developing project management skills.
Academic qualifications and certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communications or a related field.
Required experience:
- Moderate level of experience working in a similar role, gained within a global IT organization.
- Moderate level of experience working closely with printers, illustrators, graphic designers, translators and other relevant professionals.
