Are you an organized and detail-oriented individual with a knack for managing inventory and ensuring smooth operations? We're seeking a dedicated Storeman to join our express vehicle maintenance team. In this vital role, you'll be responsible for efficiently managing our parts inventory, ensuring our technicians have the right parts at the right time to keep our vehicles running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchasing & Receiving:
- Collaborate with technicians to identify required parts and assess current stock levels.
- Obtain quotes from approved suppliers, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Receive and meticulously verify deliveries against purchase orders, inspecting for damage or discrepancies.
- Inventory Management:
- Organize and categorize parts, labeling shelves, and maintaining a digital tracking system.
- Conduct regular stock counts, update inventory records, and identify slow-moving items to minimize excess.
- Implement reorder levels for fast-moving items and conduct weekly/monthly stock audits to prevent shortages.
- Parts Issuing:
- Process part requests from technicians, ensuring proper documentation against job cards or work orders.
- Monitor part usage to inform procurement strategies.
- Supplier Coordination:
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries.
- Negotiate competitive pricing and favorable credit terms.
- Periodically evaluate supplier performance based on reliability and quality.
- Tool & Equipment Management:
- Manage a check-in/check-out system for workshop tools to prevent misplacement.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and address damaged or worn-out tools.
- Returns & Warranty Claims:
- Coordinate the return of defective or incorrect parts with suppliers, ensuring proper documentation.
- Track warranty-covered parts and efficiently process claims.
- Maintain a comprehensive return log for auditing purposes.
- Disposal of Stock:
- Follow established procedures for disposing of outdated, damaged, or hazardous materials, adhering to environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of all waste disposal activities.
- Stock Rotation (FIFO):
- Implement and maintain a First-In, First-Out (FIFO) system to minimize waste and ensure stock freshness.
- Monitor stock levels to prevent overstocking, utilizing historical data for demand prediction.

- Proven experience in a storeman or inventory management role, preferably within an automotive or vehicle maintenance environment.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and systems.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
